Hyderabad: In a major move aimed at making daily commuting easier, the Telangana government is set to launch a common travel pass for Hyderabad Metro Rail and Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) buses on October 2, 2026.
The integrated pass is designed to provide seamless travel across the city’s two major public transport systems, allowing commuters to use both Metro Rail and eligible TGSRTC bus services with a single pass. The initiative is being introduced in collaboration with Hyderabad Metro Rail and TGSRTC.
The common pass launch programme is scheduled to be held at Praja Bhavan in Hyderabad, with Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka expected to be the chief guest. The move follows directions issued by Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju for the early introduction of a joint travel pass.
According to reports, the proposed daily joint pass is priced at ₹400, while the monthly pass is priced at ₹8,500. The passes are expected to benefit thousands of commuters who depend on both Metro and city bus services for their daily journeys.
The initiative is part of efforts to promote integrated public transport in Hyderabad and reduce the inconvenience of purchasing separate tickets for different modes of travel. The government has also been working towards wider common-ticketing arrangements for public transport in the Hyderabad Metropolitan Region.
The common Metro–RTC pass is therefore expected to become an important convenience for regular commuters from October 2, offering a single-pass travel option across the two transport networks.
