Hyderabad, October 2, 2026: BJP Rajya Sabha MP and Parliamentary Board member Dr. K. Laxman on Friday strongly criticised the Congress and INDIA bloc over their nationwide ‘Save Democracy March’. He said the campaign was not about protecting democracy but, in his words, a “Save Dynasty March.” The INDIA bloc has announced district-level protests from October 2 to 8 over concerns related to the Election Commission and electoral-roll revision.

Laxman alleged that Congress leaders were targeting the Election Commission and EVMs because they were unable to accept electoral defeats. He questioned the party’s objections to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists and alleged that Congress was supporting efforts to retain bogus, duplicate and deceased voters in electoral rolls.

He also attacked the Congress over its criticism of the Election Commission, citing the Emergency period and alleging that the party had a history of undermining democratic institutions. Laxman questioned the demand for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation and said Congress leaders should look at their own party’s past before raising questions about constitutional institutions.

On Telangana politics, Laxman accused the Congress government of weakening constitutional principles through the induction of BRS MLAs into the ruling party. He questioned whether an “RR Constitution” involving Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was being followed in Telangana, referring to allegations surrounding defections

Laxman also questioned Rahul Gandhi’s opposition to EVMs and the ‘One Nation, One Election’ proposal, recalling that simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections were held in earlier decades. He said Congress should respect electoral institutions and democratic processes, while asserting that voters would ultimately decide the political future of the country.
