Hyderabad, October 6:
The Telangana Human Rights Commission (TGHRC) has come down heavily on the prolonged delay by Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad, in releasing the pensionary benefits of a retired professor.
The Commission expressed serious displeasure over the fact that the retired employee’s benefits had remained pending for nearly 12 years. According to the Commission’s observations, such prolonged delay subjected the retired professor to undue hardship and mental agony.
The TGHRC questioned the delay in settling the pensionary dues and highlighted the difficulties faced by retired employees when their legitimate benefits remain pending for years.
The issue has raised serious questions over the handling of retirement benefits at a major State-run medical institution. Pensionary benefits are meant to provide financial security after retirement, making prolonged delays particularly significant for retired employees.
The Commission’s observations put the spotlight on the need for public institutions to ensure that pension and retirement benefits are processed and released without unnecessary delay.
