The inaugural Sreenidhi University TG20 is set for a thrilling finish as Anvita Khammam Aces take on Hyderabad E-Champions in the grand final at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, 12 July.
Ahead of the title clash, captains CV Milind and Abhirath Reddy addressed the media alongside officials from the Hyderabad Cricket Association and the TG20 Governing Council.
Both skippers expressed confidence in their squads and promised an entertaining contest after impressive campaigns throughout the tournament. Anvita Khammam Aces booked their place in the final with a hard-fought 10-run victory over Hyderabad E-Champions in Qualifier 1, ending their rivals' unbeaten run. The Aces have impressed with consistent all-round performances, led by prolific batter Himateja Kodimela, while teenage spinner Ved Reddy has emerged as one of the tournament's standout bowlers. Hyderabad E-Champions, however, bounced back in style with a commanding eight-wicket win over EIPL & Eleve Karimnagar Diamonds in Qualifier 2. Skipper Abhirath Reddy, the tournament's leading run-scorer with over 500 runs, will spearhead the batting, while Ajay Dev Goud leads the bowling charts with 19 wickets. Speaking at the press conference, Anvita captain CV Milind said his side would focus on staying composed under pressure and delivering another complete team performance. Hyderabad captain Abhirath Reddy described the Aces as one of the competition's strongest teams and said his side had learnt valuable lessons from their only defeat of the season. TG20 Governing Council Chairman Agam Rao hailed the success of the inaugural tournament, saying it had provided a valuable platform for emerging cricketers across Telangana and strengthened the state's talent pathway.
The champions of the inaugural Sreenidhi University TG20 will receive ₹1 crore, while the runners-up will earn ₹50 lakh. The third and fourth-placed teams will each take home ₹25 lakh, capping off a landmark first season for Telangana's premier T20 competition.
