Local body elections in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh are likely to be notified in September, according to official sources.

The State Election Commission is planning to complete the entire election process by December and constitute new governing bodies by the beginning of the new year. The finalisation of BC reservation quotas is expected in July, which is considered a key step ahead of the election schedule.

Officials have already completed voter list preparations in 13,291 gram panchayats, while ward delimitation work in urban local bodies is still in progress. Authorities are also making advance arrangements to set up around 1.36 lakh polling stations across the state. Preparations for the elections are being carried out in a phased manner, with administrative focus on ensuring smooth conduct of the polls once the notification is issued.
