The celebrations of Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya's Jayanti were held grandly at the Sri Durga Malleshwara Swamy Temple located on Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada. The events commenced on Tuesday morning with abhishekas and special pujas, and the evening's Nagarotsavam attracted a large number of devotees.
The Shobhayatra saw participation from the temple chairman Borra Radhakrishna (Gandhi), members of the governing council, and EO B.V. Reddy, among others, who continued the procession with the palanquin of the deity. On this occasion, they successfully guided the devotees while conducting the event. The sight of children dressed as Adi Shankaracharya was a special attraction during the Nagarotsavam. The procession was filled with kolatams, traditional dances, bhajans, and dappu music, creating a spiritual atmosphere.
Amidst the chanting of Vedic scholars, thousands of devotees participated and attended the celebrations in large numbers. On this occasion, the temple chairman expressed pride in celebrating Adi Shankaracharya's Jayanti on Indrakeeladri and hoped that these festivities would further expand the Sanatana Dharma.
