Actor Sai Tamhankar, known for her fearless screen presence, has addressed the “bold actress” tag often attached to her, saying she prefers to be recognised for portraying strong, layered women rather than being boxed into stereotypes.
Speaking about her evolving career choices, the Matka King actress said she consciously gravitates towards roles that reflect independence, emotional depth and realism. “Being called bold is often limiting,” she noted, adding that her performances aim to go beyond surface-level perceptions and explore the complexities of modern women.
Tamhankar emphasised that the industry is gradually opening up to narratives led by women with agency. She said audiences today are more receptive to stories where female characters are not just supporting figures but central to the plot. According to her, such roles are both challenging and rewarding as they demand authenticity and nuance.
Reflecting on her journey across Marathi and Hindi cinema, the actress highlighted that she has never shied away from unconventional roles. She believes that taking creative risks has helped her build a distinct identity in the industry.
With Matka King drawing attention, Tamhankar reiterated her commitment to meaningful storytelling. “Strong women are not defined by labels, but by their choices and resilience,” she said, underlining her focus on roles that resonate with contemporary audiences.
