Mumbai, May 14:

Actor Rahul Dev has landed in the middle of a fresh controversy after a viral clip from a podcast is being widely shared, where he appears to comment on Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu’s Hindi language skills, triggering massive backlash and debate online.

In the circulating clip, Rahul Dev is heard responding to a question about Mahesh Babu not doing Hindi films, saying the actor “doesn’t even know the language,” a remark that many social media users are calling unnecessary and provocative. The statement has quickly gone viral, with fans accusing him of taking a direct dig at the superstar.

The comment has reignited the long-standing North vs South cinema debate, with supporters of Mahesh Babu slamming the narrative and calling it a repeated attempt to twist old interviews and fuel controversy. Many users pointed out that Mahesh Babu has previously spoken Hindi in public appearances and interviews, dismissing the criticism as exaggerated.

Others, however, argue that the remark reflects ongoing tensions in India’s film industry discussions around language, stardom, and pan-India cinema dominance, especially as South Indian films continue to outperform several Bollywood releases at the box office

Rahul Dev has not issued any clarification at the time of reporting, while the clip continues to trend across platforms, keeping Mahesh Babu’s past comments and Bollywood connection back in the spotlight.
