 This change is part of a major gubernatorial reshuffle announced by Rashtrapati Bhavan on March 5, 2026, affecting nine states and union territories.

Appointment Details

The appointment takes effect from the date Shukla assumes charge.

 Jishnu Dev Varma, the incumbent Telangana Governor since July 31, 2024, has been transferred to become the Governor of Maharashtra.

 Shukla, born in 1952, is a former Minister of State for Finance and Rajya Sabha member from Uttar Pradesh.
