Rumours about the cancellation of Telangana’s Rythu Bharosa scheme have been widely circulating on social media, creating confusion among farmers across the state. However, there has been no official announcement from the Telangana government regarding the complete cancellation of the scheme. According to sources, the government is considering certain changes in the implementation of the farmer investment support programme. The scheme, which is aimed at providing financial assistance to farmers for crop cultivation, is likely to continue but with revised guidelines. Officials indicate that the government is planning to ensure that only farmers who are actively cultivating their land receive the financial support. As part of this process, authorities are reportedly conducting satellite-based surveys to identify lands that are actually under cultivation. Sources also suggest that fallow lands, lands converted for real estate, or lands not used for agriculture may not be eligible for assistance under the revised policy. However, the government has not yet released a final decision or official guidelines regarding these changes. The recent delay in releasing funds to farmers is believed to have triggered speculation on social media that the scheme has been cancelled. Government sources, however, maintain that the programme has not been scrapped, and clarity on the new guidelines is expected soon.
