In a significant boost to sustainable urban infrastructure, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar lauded the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) for achieving the prestigious ISO 50001:2018 Energy Management Standard certification. BWSSB Chairman Ram Prasath Manohar, along with senior officials, met the Deputy CM and formally presented the certificate, marking a landmark moment for the city’s water management sector.
With this recognition, BWSSB has become the first water utility in India to secure the ISO 50001:2018 certification, highlighting its commitment to energy efficiency and optimized management of bulk water supply pumping systems. The certification underscores the board’s proactive approach toward reducing energy consumption and enhancing operational performance
Deputy CM Shivakumar said the achievement sets a national benchmark and aligns with the government’s broader vision of building a sustainable and future-ready Bengaluru. He emphasized that such milestones reinforce the city’s leadership in adopting innovative and environmentally responsible urban solutions.
