BJP MP Surya Tejaswi's comments comparing the bifurcation of Telangana to that of Pakistan have sparked intense outrage across the state. Criticism is pouring in, stating that these remarks belittle the history of the Telangana movement and the sacrifices made by thousands. The trivialization of the long struggle for a separate state has also led to serious political discussions.
Former MP and current Congress MLC Vijayashanti responded strongly, stating that these comments are akin to "pouring salt on a wound." She noted that making such irresponsible remarks is inappropriate, especially when there are already suspicions of injustice towards Telangana regarding the increase in parliamentary seats.
At the same time, Vijayashanti expressed her deep dissatisfaction with the response from BJP state president Ramachandra Rao. She accused him of diverting attention from the main issue by questioning the role of the TRS in achieving Telangana. She clarified that the people of Telangana are well aware of the contributions of the leaders involved in the movement.
Recalling the struggle led by K. Chandrashekar Rao, who played a crucial role in the formation of Telangana, Vijayashanti stated that Sonia Gandhi agreed to the bifurcation of the state out of respect for the spirit of the movement. She warned that distorting this history is not right.
Vijayashanti challenged BJP MPs from Telangana to clarify their stance. The question now resonating among the public is, "Does the BJP truly respect the sentiments of Telangana, or does it belittle them for political gain?"
