Senior Congress leader and MP Manish Tewari has launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led central government, accusing it of misleading the public by projecting the Delimitation Bill as a routine administrative exercise while hiding its deeper political intentions.
Tewari clarified that the issue being debated is not the Women’s Reservation Bill, as some sections have been suggesting, but the Delimitation process, which he claims is being used strategically ahead of major electoral changes in the country
. He alleged that the BJP government is attempting to reshape electoral boundaries in a way that could influence future election outcomes, raising serious concerns about fairness, federal balance, and democratic principles.
According to him, the timing and manner in which the Delimitation Bill is being pushed raise doubts about the government’s real intention, suggesting it is more about political advantage than constitutional necessity.
The BJP, however, maintains that delimitation is a constitutional requirement to ensure fair representation based on population changes, while opposition leaders continue to question its transparency and intent, turning the issue into a fresh political flashpoint.
