Karnataka Minister for Planning and Statistics and Hiriyur MLA D. Sudhakar passed away on Sunday after battling illness, triggering an outpouring of grief across the state’s political spectrum.
Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar expressed deep sorrow over the demise of his cabinet colleague and close friend. In a heartfelt condolence message, Shivakumar said Sudhakar’s death was a personal loss and a major setback for Karnataka politics.
Describing Sudhakar as a compassionate and people-centric leader, Shivakumar recalled that the minister would always come with requests related to development works in Hiriyur constituency and Chitradurga district. “His commitment reflected the immense love he had for his people,” he said.
Known as a “leader of the poor,” Sudhakar had earned a reputation for his accessibility and dedication to public welfare. As Chitradurga district in-charge minister, he played a key role in pushing several development initiatives
. His death leaves a void in the lives of his family members, relatives, political colleagues, and thousands of supporters who admired his humility and service-oriented leadership.
