Chennai, May 10:
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday congratulated Vijay after he took oath as the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, calling his rise from cinema to politics a “remarkable democratic journey.”
In a message posted on social media, Siddaramaiah said Vijay’s transition from the film industry to public service reflects the strength of democracy and the faith people have placed in his leadership. He wished the newly sworn-in Chief Minister a successful and transformative tenure.
The Karnataka Chief Minister highlighted the deep civilizational and cultural ties shared by Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, saying both states are bound by common aspirations for social justice, inclusive development and stronger federal cooperation.
Siddaramaiah also expressed hope that the two southern states would work together to uphold secularism, protect constitutional values and counter divisive and authoritarian forces that threaten India’s democratic fabric.
The message is being seen as a significant gesture of regional solidarity, especially at a time when opposition parties across India are stressing the importance of federalism and cooperative governance.
Vijay, who founded his political party after years of massive popularity in Tamil cinema, took oath as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister following a landmark electoral victory that reshaped the state’s political landscape.
