South Central Railway celebrated World Environment Day at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad, under the leadership of General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, reaffirming its commitment to environmental sustainability.
As part of the Ministry of Railways’ campaign held from May 15 to June 5 on the theme of climate change and environmental challenges, SCR organized cleanliness drives, waste management initiatives, plastic reduction campaigns, tree plantation under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ programme, and water and energy conservation activities across the zone.
Officials from Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Nanded divisions presented reports on various green initiatives, while winners of drawing and essay competitions for railway employees’ children were felicitated.
Senior officials also participated in a Railway Board-level virtual meeting, where Chairman and CEO Satish Kumar stressed the importance of cleanliness, effective waste management, and making environmental sustainability a part of everyday railway operations.
