Hyderabad: Telangana Director General of Police CV Anand has directed officials to initiate the long-pending Telangana State Police Officers’ Association elections without further delay, stressing the need for democratic representation within the police force.
The elections have remained pending for more than a decade due to administrative changes following Telangana’s formation, district reorganisation, personnel transfers, and the establishment of new police commissionerates.
The DGP highlighted that a functional officers’ association plays a key role in addressing service-related concerns, improving communication between personnel and leadership, and supporting welfare initiatives.
Officials have been instructed to make necessary arrangements and complete the election process at the earliest. The move is being viewed as part of the state police leadership’s continued focus on personnel welfare and institutional reforms.
