PM Modi inaugurates India's first hydrogen train, marking the beginning of the green rail era.

Jind (Haryana), July 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday flagged off India's first hydrogen fuel-powered train at the Jind railway station in Haryana. This historic event marks a significant step forward for Indian Railways in the direction of clean and environmentally friendly transportation. The hydrogen train will operate on an 89-kilometer route between Jind and Sonipat. Unlike traditional diesel or electric trains, this train generates its own electricity through hydrogen fuel cell technology. With only water vapor being released in the process, it operates with nearly zero pollution emissions. This 10-coach train, developed with Indian technology, is equipped with advanced safety systems. Special sensors have been installed to detect hydrogen leaks, heat, flames, and smoke. A dedicated hydrogen refueling center has also been established in Jind. With this project, India has joined the ranks of countries like Germany, France, and China that are implementing hydrogen train technology. Experts believe this will be a key milestone in moving the country towards a carbon emission-free transportation system.
