Jaipur: The Rajasthan local body election results have delivered a closely fought political picture, with the BJP emerging as the single-largest party but Congress putting up a strong challenge across the state.
Results for 9,900 municipal wards show the BJP winning 4,026 wards, while the Congress secured 3,438 wards. Independent candidates also made a significant impact, winning 2,436 wards.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) managed to make its presence felt with a win in Baran, but the broader electoral battle across Rajasthan remains largely centred on the BJP versus Congress.
The numbers underline the BJP's position as the No.1 party in terms of ward wins, but the relatively narrow gap with Congress highlights Rajasthan's competitive political landscape.
Unlike several other Hindi-heartland states where the BJP has established a stronger dominance, Rajasthan continues to remain a two-way political battleground, with Congress retaining substantial ground at the local level.
The results could provide important political signals ahead of future electoral battles in the state, particularly as both BJP and Congress look to strengthen their grassroots networks.
