Los Angeles, July 3:
One of YouTube’s most popular analog horror series, The Mandela Catalogue, is set to receive a feature film adaptation after a major Hollywood studio deal.
The project brings together United Artists, Amblin Entertainment, and Amazon MGM Studios to develop the film, underscoring the entertainment industry's growing interest in successful digital-born franchises.
Created by filmmaker Alex Kister in 2021, The Mandela Catalogue gained a massive global following through its unsettling found-footage style and psychological horror storytelling. The series is set in the fictional Mandela County, where mysterious entities known as "Alternates" terrorize residents through deception and fear.
Kister is expected to direct the film adaptation while also co-writing the screenplay, helping preserve the original vision that made the online series a viral success.
The adaptation reflects a broader trend of studios investing in internet-created intellectual property with established fan bases. Details about the cast, production schedule, and release date have not yet been announced.
