New Delhi, June 23: President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Padma Shri on renowned Carnatic vocalist Ranjani in recognition of her outstanding contribution to Indian classical music.

 As part of the celebrated Ranjani-Gayatri duo, Ranjani has spent nearly four decades promoting and preserving the rich traditions of Carnatic music. The sisters have earned widespread acclaim for their dedication to classical excellence, deep musical scholarship, and captivating performances across India and abroad.

Beyond the concert stage, the duo has played a significant role in nurturing the next generation of musicians through structured training programs, workshops, and lecture demonstrations, mentoring hundreds of students over the years.

The Padma Shri award recognizes Ranjani’s lifelong commitment to safeguarding and advancing India's classical music heritage while taking the Carnatic tradition to global audiences.
