Mumbai | News Report Mumbai has witnessed one of its wettest starts to July in decades, with relentless monsoon rain claiming at least 13 lives and causing widespread disruption across the city and adjoining regions

. Heavy rainfall inundated roads, railway tracks, residential colonies, and commercial areas, severely affecting daily life for millions of residents. Local train services, road traffic, and air travel were disrupted as waterlogging crippled key transport routes.

Several rain-related incidents, including building collapses, falling trees, wall cave-ins, and landslides, were reported from different parts of the city and surrounding districts. Emergency response teams were deployed to rescue stranded residents and clear blocked roads.

Authorities have urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and remain alert as more rain is expected over the coming days. Schools in several areas remained closed, while many offices shifted to remote work due to the adverse weather conditions.

The latest flooding has once again raised serious questions about Mumbai's drainage network and urban infrastructure. Despite repeated investments and flood-control projects, intense monsoon showers continue to overwhelm the city's systems, leaving commuters stranded and neighbourhoods submerged.

Civic agencies are continuing relief and restoration work while monitoring vulnerable areas as the monsoon remains active across Maharashtra.
