New Delhi, August 10, 2026: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav joined Opposition MPs in a high-voltage protest in Delhi, demanding answers from Union Home Minister Amit Shah over police action during a students’ protest at Jantar Mantar on July 20.
The Opposition MPs raised strong objections to the alleged police action against protesting students, calling for clarity from the government on how the situation was handled. Leaders demanded that the Home Minister address the issue and explain the circumstances surrounding the police response.
The protest also brought the issue of alleged irregularities linked to donations made for the Ram temple in Ayodhya into the political spotlight. Opposition leaders called for greater transparency in the handling of the funds and demanded accountability over the allegations.
With Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav appearing together during the protest, the Opposition sought to project unity against the government on issues ranging from student protests to financial transparency.
Opposition MPs have demanded a statement from Amit Shah on both matters, escalating pressure on the government to respond in Parliament. The twin issues are expected to fuel further political confrontation as the Opposition intensifies its campaign for accountability and transparency.
