Bhopal: In a major development in the Twisha Sharma death case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested retired district judge and former judicial officer Giribala Singh, who is also the mother-in-law of the deceased.
According to official updates, the arrest came shortly after the Madhya Pradesh High Court cancelled her anticipatory bail, clearing the way for custodial action in the high-profile case.
The case relates to the death of 26-year-old Twisha Sharma, whose death initially appeared suspicious and later triggered a wider probe over allegations of dowry harassment and mental cruelty.
Following the court’s order, CBI teams moved quickly and took Giribala Singh into custody from her residence in Bhopal. Officials said she will now be interrogated as part of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding Twisha Sharma’s death.
The CBI continues to probe multiple angles, including alleged dowry demands and abetment to suicide, while further legal proceedings are expected in the coming days. Fr The High Court had earlier observed serious allegations, including claims of harassment and supporting material presented during the hearing, which led to the cancellation of bail granted earlier by a lower court.
With the arrest of a former judicial officer, the case has taken a significant turn, drawing national attention and intensifying scrutiny of the investigation.
