New Delhi, March 16: The Government of India has provided major relief by restarting the distribution of commercial LPG cylinders across all states and Union Territories. The move comes following fresh directives from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas amid recent concerns over supply shortages. According to official guidelines, oil marketing companies (OMCs) including Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum have begun controlled distribution of commercial LPG cylinders. As per the government’s directions, the companies will allocate up to 20% of the daily average LPG consumption for regulated supply to ensure that essential sectors continue to receive fuel without disruption. The decision is expected to bring significant relief to hotels, restaurants, catering businesses, and other commercial establishments that were facing difficulties due to limited LPG availability in recent days. Officials said the controlled distribution system aims to maintain stability in supply chains while ensuring fair access to LPG cylinders across the country. Authorities are also closely monitoring the situation to prevent hoarding and black marketing. Industry experts believe the move will help stabilize the commercial LPG market and ensure that businesses dependent on cooking gas can continue operations without major interruptions.
