Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) users across the country have been hit with another price hike, marking the second increase within a week. The latest revision has added to the financial burden on auto drivers, cab operators, and middle-class commuters who rely on CNG as a cost-effective fuel.
In the National Capital Region, CNG prices have gone up again, with the rate in Delhi now standing at ₹80.09 per kg. In nearby cities such as Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad, the price has climbed to ₹88.70 per kg, reflecting a steady upward trend in fuel costs.
Hyderabad has emerged as one of the costliest cities for CNG users, with the retail price touching around ₹98 per kg. The increase is expected to directly impact thousands of commercial vehicle operators and could eventually lead to higher transportation fares for passengers.
This is the second hike in less than a week. Industry sources attribute the increase to rising global natural gas prices and geopolitical tensions affecting energy markets. Oil marketing companies have been adjusting domestic prices in response to higher import costs.
With petrol, diesel, and CNG all becoming more expensive, consumers are facing mounting pressure on household budgets. Transport operators warn that if the trend continues, the cost of goods and services may also rise, adding to inflation concerns across the country.
