New Delhi:June7 , 2026
A sudden storm accompanied by strong winds swept through Delhi on Sunday, damaging three Air India aircraft parked at Indira Gandhi International Airport. The powerful gusts reportedly moved ground handling equipment, which collided with the parked planes, causing varying degrees of damage.
Airport officials said one of the affected aircraft suffered substantial damage and has been taken out of service for repairs. The remaining two aircraft sustained minor damage and are expected to resume operations after technical inspections and maintenance checks.
The incident occurred during a spell of severe weather that affected several parts of the national capital. Authorities have begun assessing the damage and reviewing safety protocols to ensure ground equipment remains secured during extreme weather conditions.
No injuries were reported among passengers or airport staff. While flight operations continued, the incident has raised fresh concerns about airport preparedness and aircraft safety during sudden storms.
