Mumbai, June 21:
Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has strongly responded to recent remarks by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, asserting that there is only one Shiv Sena and that it belongs to the legacy of the party founded by his father, Bal Thackeray.
Addressing party workers and supporters, Thackeray rejected claims made by political opponents regarding the ownership and identity of the Shiv Sena. He stated that the party’s ideology, history, and loyal cadre remain with his faction despite the split that reshaped Maharashtra politics.
The remarks come amid an ongoing political battle between the rival Shiv Sena factions following the 2022 split that led to the rise of the Eknath Shinde-led group. Thackeray accused his opponents of attempting to appropriate the party’s legacy while emphasizing that the original Shiv Sena’s values continue to be represented by his camp.
The exchange has added fresh intensity to Maharashtra’s political landscape, with both sides seeking to consolidate support ahead of future electoral contests.
