Srinagar, July 3:
The opening day of the annual Amarnath Yatra was marked by heavy rainfall, making one of India's toughest pilgrimages even more challenging. Continuous rain turned the steep mountain trails slippery, forcing thousands of devotees to proceed with extreme caution on their way to the holy Amarnath Cave Shrine.
Despite the adverse weather conditions, pilgrims continued their journey with determination to seek the sacred ice Shivling. Many devotees faced difficult trekking conditions as rain reduced visibility and increased the risk of slips along the Baltal and Pahalgam routes.
Security personnel, disaster response teams, and rescue workers remained on high alert throughout the day, assisting pilgrims at vulnerable stretches and ensuring that the yatra continued safely. Authorities have strengthened monitoring of the route and are providing necessary support wherever required.
Officials have urged pilgrims to remain cautious, closely follow weather advisories, and strictly adhere to instructions issued by the administration. The pilgrimage is continuing under heightened safety measures as authorities monitor the evolving weather situation.
