Mumbai: Disha Salian’s death case has once again triggered a fierce political face-off in Maharashtra. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has launched a sharp attack on Disha Salian’s father, Satish Salian, over his visit to Matoshree to serve a ₹500-crore defamation notice on Aaditya Thackeray. Raut described the episode as “pure drama” aimed at “cheap publicity” and questioned why Satish Salian chose to make a public appearance six years after his daughter’s death.
Raut also alleged that political forces were backing and controlling the latest developments, though he did not provide evidence for that claim.
The controversy erupted after Satish Salian’s legal action against Aaditya Thackeray. The notice alleges defamatory statements concerning his campaign for a renewed investigation into his daughter’s death. Aaditya Thackeray’s lawyer accepted the notice at Matoshree.
The case has returned to the spotlight after the CBI registered an FIR following the Bombay High Court’s directions for a fresh probe. The developments have intensified the political battle, with Raut defending the Thackeray family while Satish Salian continues to demand action in connection with his daughter’s death.
Satish Salian, meanwhile, has rejected the criticism and said he wants to demonstrate the “power of the common man.” The latest confrontation has added another explosive chapter to the long-running Disha Salian controversy, with the CBI investigation now under close public and political scrutiny.
