Vikarabad (Telangana), April 22: In a significant anti-corruption crackdown, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested two women police officers posted at the Women Police Station in Vikarabad district for allegedly accepting a bribe.
According to ACB officials, the accused officers were caught red-handed while demanding and accepting illegal gratification from a complainant in exchange for extending official favors in a case under their jurisdiction. The operation was carried out following a complaint filed by the victim, who alleged harassment and demand for money.
The ACB laid a trap and apprehended both officers during the transaction. Officials confirmed that the tainted money was recovered from their possession, and preliminary investigation established their involvement in the corrupt act.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further investigation is underway. The arrested officers will be produced before a special court for ACB cases.
The incident has raised concerns over misconduct within law enforcement agencies, with senior officials reiterating a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption.
