Rising global conflicts and shifting security priorities are expected to take center stage at this week’s Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, Asia’s leading defence and strategic affairs forum.
Key discussions are likely to focus on the ongoing conflict involving Iran, increasing uncertainty over the United States’ long-term military commitments in the Indo-Pacific region, and growing concerns over stability in the Taiwan Strait
. Security experts say the Iran situation has already added pressure on global energy routes and maritime security, raising fears of wider economic disruption. At the same time, Asian allies are closely watching Washington’s balancing act between Middle East crises and Indo-Pacific strategy.
Tensions around Taiwan are also expected to dominate closed-door meetings, with reports of heightened military activity in the region further intensifying concerns over potential escalation between major powers.
Officials from several countries, including defence ministers and military leaders, will attend the summit to discuss cooperation, deterrence strategies, and regional stability in an increasingly fragmented geopolitical environment.
