Rawalakot (Pakistan-occupied Kashmir), July 1:
Thousands of people gathered in Rawalakot, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK), to protest against Pakistan's administration, with demonstrators claiming the region is not part of Pakistan and accusing Islamabad of using restrictions on food supplies to weaken the ongoing anti-government movement.
The rally drew large crowds carrying banners and raising slogans against the Pakistani government. Protesters alleged that authorities were attempting to suppress the movement by disrupting the supply of essential commodities and increasing pressure on activists.
Speakers at the gathering demanded greater political rights, economic relief and an end to what they described as administrative repression. They also urged the government to address public grievances through dialogue rather than enforcement measures.
The demonstrations are part of a broader wave of protests that has spread across several areas of Pakistan-administered Kashmir in recent weeks, driven by concerns over governance, rising living costs and political representation.
Pakistan's authorities have maintained that steps taken in the region are aimed at preserving law and order. However, the latest rally reflects continuing unrest and growing dissatisfaction among sections of the local population.
