Guam, July 6: A powerful super typhoon has struck U.S. territories in the western Pacific, bringing destructive winds, torrential rain and dangerous flooding to the Northern Mariana Islands near Guam.
Local authorities reported significant damage after the storm made landfall, with homes damaged, trees uprooted and power outages affecting several communities. Emergency teams are working to assess the full extent of the destruction as severe weather continues.
Heavy rainfall has triggered flash flooding in low-lying areas, while strong winds have disrupted communications and transportation. Residents were urged to remain indoors until conditions improve.
Emergency shelters were opened ahead of the storm, and disaster response teams remain on high alert. Officials warned that additional rainfall and flooding could worsen conditions before the system moves away.
The typhoon is expected to continue tracking westward over the Pacific, though hazardous weather may persist across parts of the region for the next several hours.
