Four nurses who were undergoing treatment for Ebola have successfully recovered and been discharged, health officials confirmed, offering a rare positive development amid the ongoing outbreak that has affected parts of Central and West Africa.
The recovered medical workers were among the frontline staff treating infected patients in high-risk isolation units. Authorities said their recovery highlights both the effectiveness of early medical intervention and improved clinical management protocols in containing the virus.
Health officials from the national response team, working in coordination with the World Health Organization, described the recoveries as a “hopeful sign” but cautioned that the outbreak is still active and requires sustained vigilance.
Ebola, a severe and often fatal viral disease, continues to pose significant challenges in affected regions due to limited healthcare infrastructure and high transmission risk among caregivers.
Officials urged continued adherence to safety protocols, especially for healthcare workers, and reiterated that surveillance and contact tracing remain critical to preventing further spread.
While the recovery of the four nurses is being widely welcomed, health authorities emphasized that isolated successes do not yet indicate containment of the outbreak. End
