Iran Dismisses Reports of Allowing Indian Oil Tankers Through the Strait of Hormuz

Iran’s denial of granting India permission to move oil through the Strait of Hormuz has triggered a political debate, raising questions over the claims circulating in recent report

India

New Delhi/Tehran: A fresh controversy has erupted after claims circulated that India had received special permission from Iran to transport crude oil through the strategic Strait of Hormuz. However, Iranian authorities have reportedly dismissed these claims, stating that no such permission was granted to India. Officials in Tehran clarified that the reports suggesting a special approval were not based on facts, sparking a political debate. The issue has quickly turned into a political flashpoint in India. Opposition leaders have accused the central government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party of spreading misleading information to protect its image amid rising tensions in West Asia. Meanwhile, the Indian government has not yet issued a detailed response regarding the Iranian clarification. The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical oil shipping routes, and any disruption there could have a significant impact on global energy supplies.
