New Delhi | March 14, 2026 News Article: In response to a request by Warangal MP Dr. Kadiyam Kavya, the Union Government has assured the allocation of additional railway rakes to facilitate the transport of paddy and cotton from Telangana. The Railway Ministry’s Minister of State, Ravneet Singh Bittu, wrote to Dr. Kavya, confirming that the rakes would be provided in sufficient numbers to meet the state’s agricultural transport needs. The request, made under Rule 377 of the Lok Sabha on December 9, 2025, sought adequate rail support for moving Telangana’s food grains and cotton. In his letter dated March 6, the minister emphasized that railway rake allocation is based on requirements submitted by state governments and the Food Corporation of India (FCI). Daily allocations are made considering factors such as demand, availability of rakes, railway route capacity, and operational conditions. The minister highlighted that up to January 2026, around 3.59 million tonnes of food grains (approximately 1,329 railway rakes) have already been loaded from Telangana through FCI. Additional rakes are being provided daily to ensure uninterrupted transportation of food grains and other agricultural produce. Dr. Kadiyam Kavya welcomed the decision, stating that these measures would greatly ease the movement of farmers’ produce, supporting Telangana’s agricultural sector and ensuring timely supply to markets.
