New Delhi, March 23 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Lok Sabha amid rising tensions in West Asia, highlighting the government’s proactive approach to safeguarding India’s interests and citizens abroad. Speaking during the session, the Prime Minister acknowledged that the ongoing geopolitical instability has begun to impact key maritime routes, raising concerns over global trade flows and energy supplies. He noted that disruptions in crucial shipping corridors are being closely monitored by Indian authorities. Modi emphasized that the safety and security of Indian nationals residing in Gulf countries remain a top priority. He assured the House that the government is in constant touch with Indian missions and local authorities in the region to ensure timely support and assistance if needed. Touching upon India’s diplomatic stance, the Prime Minister reiterated the country’s commitment to peace and stability. He said India is actively engaging with global partners and regional stakeholders through diplomatic channels to de-escalate tensions and maintain stability in the region. He further underlined the importance of dialogue and cooperation, stating that India continues to advocate for peaceful resolution of conflicts while safeguarding its economic and strategic interests. Officials are also keeping a close watch on developments that could affect oil supply chains and trade logistics, given India’s dependence on the region for energy imports.
