South vs North Row: CM Revanth Reddy Flags ‘Unfair’ Lok Sabha Delimitation Plan

Telangana CM Revanth Reddy criticizes Centre’s Lok Sabha delimitation proposal, warns of unfair impact on southern states and calls for united opposition.

New Delhi, March 25: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Centre over the proposed Lok Sabha constituency delimitation, alleging that it could widen the divide between northern and southern states. Speaking at a discussion event in New Delhi, the Chief Minister expressed concern that the Centre’s population-based seat redistribution plan may significantly reduce the political weight of southern states, which have performed better in population control and development indicators. He warned that such a move would unfairly penalize progressive states, creating an imbalance in representation and weakening the federal structure of the country. “States that have successfully implemented family planning and achieved growth should not be disadvantaged,” he emphasized. Revanth Reddy also called on southern states to unite and mount a collective resistance against the proposal, urging the Centre to reconsider its approach and ensure equitable representation for all regions.
