Fears of LPG and fuel shortages grow in India amid Middle East tensions involving Iran, US, and Israel, though officials urge calm.

India

New Delhi, March 26, 2026 : Rising tensions in the Middle East are beginning to reflect on domestic sentiment in India, with concerns emerging over fuel and cooking gas availability. The ongoing strain involving Iran, United States, and Israel has raised fears of potential disruptions in global energy supply chains. In several areas, reports of delays in LPG distribution have led to anxiety among hotel and restaurant operators.

At the same time, speculation about a possible shortage of domestic gas cylinders is spreading rapidly. Adding to the concern, rumors of petrol and diesel shortages have prompted long queues at fuel stations,

as vehicle owners rush to refill tanks. However, officials maintain that supply systems remain stable and there is no immediate cause for panic. Experts note that any prolonged escalation in the Middle East could push global oil prices higher, which may indirectly impact countries like India that rely heavily on energy imports. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and are expected to take necessary steps to ensure uninterrupted supply.
