Cyclone Fury in Uttar Pradesh: Over 100 Feared Dead as Storm Wreaks Havoc Across Multiple Districts

Storm lashes Uttar Pradesh, killing over 100 across Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Bhadohi & more. Homes collapse, lightning & winds cause widespread destruction

India

A severe cyclonic weather system has unleashed widespread destruction across Uttar Pradesh, with the death toll reportedly rising from 89 to over 100 as fresh reports emerge from multiple affected districts. The storm, accompanied by unseasonal heavy rain, violent winds, and lightning strikes, has triggered one of the most devastating weather-related disasters in recent weeks.

The worst-hit regions include Prayagraj, Bhadohi, Mirzapur, Fatehpur, and Badaun, where entire neighborhoods have been left battered and infrastructure severely compromised. Local authorities are struggling to assess the full scale of destruction as communication lines remain disrupted in several pockets.

According to initial reports, most fatalities occurred due to collapsing walls, falling trees, and intense lightning strikes that struck during the peak of the storm. Many victims were caught off guard as the weather rapidly intensified, leaving little time for evacuation or protective measures.

The storm has also left a trail of massive material damage. Hundreds of homes have been damaged or completely destroyed, power supply systems have been disrupted, and agricultural lands have suffered extensive losses. Early estimates indicate that more than 100 livestock animals have perished, deepening the economic distress of rural communities already under pressure.

Emergency response teams have been deployed across affected districts, with rescue and relief operations underway on a war footing. Authorities have urged residents to remain indoors, avoid damaged structures, and follow safety advisories as after-effects of the storm continue to threaten vulnerable areas.
