Ludhiana: In a major boost to Punjab’s aviation and regional connectivity, Halwara Airport witnessed the arrival of its first commercial flight from Delhi operated by Air India on Friday morning, officially integrating Ludhiana into India’s commercial air network.

The inaugural flight marks a significant milestone for the region, long considered an industrial hub of Punjab. The new air link is expected to strengthen business travel, improve logistics efficiency, and support faster movement for trade and industry stakeholders across northern India.

Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu, along with MPs Vikramjit Singh Sahney and Rajinder Gupta, travelled on the inaugural flight. They described the operationalisation of Halwara Airport as a transformative development that will accelerate economic growth and investment in the region.

According to officials, Air India will operate daily services between Ludhiana and Delhi, significantly improving connectivity for passengers. The route will also enable seamless same-day international transit options from Delhi to major global destinations including London, Rome, Milan, and Paris.

With the launch of operations at Halwara Airport, stakeholders expect a ripple effect on industrial expansion, tourism, and employment opportunities, positioning Ludhiana as a stronger aviation-linked economic centre in North India.
