Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has issued a sharp warning, claiming that India is heading toward a major economic storm due to the economic policies implemented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Rahul Gandhi said he has been cautioning for several days that the economic model built by the Modi government is heavily tilted in favor of industrialists Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani. According to him, such a system is unsustainable and is bound to collapse.
“The real tragedy is that the burden of this collapse will not be borne by the wealthy. It will be ordinary Indians — youth, farmers, workers, and small business owners — who will suffer the most,” Rahul Gandhi said.
Rahul Gandhi asserted that any economic shock would barely affect the country’s richest business houses, but would hit common families with unprecedented severity. Taking a swipe at the Prime Minister,
Rahul alleged that instead of taking concrete steps to stabilize the economy, Narendra Modi and his ministers continue to focus on foreign tours while ordinary citizens face mounting financial pressure.
He also said he had advised Congress-ruled states to take precautionary measures to cushion the impact of a possible slowdown. “What I warned about before the elections is now unfolding,” Rahul Gandhi said, reiterating his concerns over the direction of India’s economy. Rahul Gandhi’s remarks are expected to intensify the political debate over inflation, unemployment, and the government’s economic management.
The Congress leader’s remarks are likely to intensify the political battle over unemployment, inflation and the widening gap between India’s richest business houses and struggling ordinary citizens.
