US Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited the Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata during his India trip, highlighting the humanitarian and cultural ties shared by India and the United States. Rubio visited the Mother House established by Mother Teresa and interacted with members of the charitable organisations.

 The visit drew attention for its symbolic message of compassion, service and people-to-people connection between the two countries. Reacting to the visit, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor said moments like these show that the India-US relationship is built not only on strategic cooperation but also on common values and the spirit of selfless service.
