Mumbai/Hanoi | July 13:
The mortal remains of 15 Indian nationals who died in a devastating boating accident in Vietnam are expected to arrive in Mumbai, marking the beginning of their final journey home and bringing immense grief to families waiting to perform the last rites.
The victims were part of a tourist group visiting a popular island destination in southern Vietnam when the vessel they were travelling in met with a tragic accident during the excursion. Rescue teams launched an extensive operation, but several passengers could not be saved.
Indian diplomatic officials worked closely with Vietnamese authorities to complete identification procedures and documentation required for the repatriation of the bodies. Arrangements were made to transport the remains to Mumbai before they are taken to their respective hometowns across India.
The tragedy has triggered an outpouring of condolences from leaders and citizens, while authorities in Vietnam continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident and examine whether safety lapses contributed to the loss of lives.
