'Rahul Gandhi Calls Pradhan's Exit a 'Big Step', Demands PM Modi's Apology

Rahul Gandhi welcomed Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation as a step toward education reform, urging PM Narendra Modi to apologise to students and ensure lasting systemic changes.

India

New Delhi, July 25:

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday welcomed the resignation of former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, calling it a significant step towards rebuilding confidence in India's education system. However, he said the resignation alone would not address the concerns raised by students across the country.

Rahul Gandhi asserted that the government must accept responsibility for the recent examination-related controversies and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to apologise to students and their families. He said young people had faced uncertainty and stress due to alleged irregularities in the examination process.

The Congress MP also called for comprehensive reforms to improve transparency, accountability and fairness in the country's education and recruitment systems. According to him, restoring students' trust should be the government's top priority.

He further said the protests by students reflected broader concerns about the education system and stressed that lasting reforms were necessary to prevent similar issues in the future.
