NEW DELHI, August 19, 2026: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has launched a sharp attack on the Government of India, accusing it of “betraying the youth” over the continued uncertainty surrounding the withdrawal of FIRs filed against students and protesters involved in the nationwide agitation.
In a strongly worded statement, CJP claimed that the Supreme Court has twice sought clarity from the government on the issue but alleged that the Centre has failed to provide a clear commitment on withdrawing the cases. The party said the delay has raised serious questions over whether assurances given to protesters will actually be implemented.
CJP said its July 25 decision to suspend the agitation was based on commitments relating to the withdrawal of FIRs, protection of protesters from punitive action and compensation for families affected during the agitation. According to the group, the Supreme Court has now provided a possible route for implementing those commitments, including consolidating FIRs and examining individual cases where required.
“We will not permit the Government to play games with the trust of India’s students, Gen Z and young citizens,” CJP said, warning that the issue could once again escalate if the government fails to act.
The group has issued a fresh deadline, saying its National Working Committee will meet within the next two days if concrete steps are not immediately taken to honour the July 25 commitments. CJP made it clear that its next move will depend entirely on the government’s response, keeping the possibility of renewed agitation firmly on the table.
