In a massive anti-narcotics operation, security agencies at Indira Gandhi International Airport seized high-grade marijuana worth nearly ₹24 crore and arrested three international passengers allegedly linked to a transnational drug trafficking network.
According to officials, the accused were intercepted during a coordinated inspection at the airport after intelligence inputs raised suspicion over their movement and baggage. During the search, authorities recovered a huge quantity of concealed marijuana packed in specially designed compartments aimed at evading airport security checks.
Investigators believe the consignment was meant for distribution across major Indian cities through an organized narcotics syndicate operating with international connections. The arrested individuals are currently being interrogated to trace the entire supply chain, handlers, and financial network behind the smuggling operation
Officials said the seizure is one of the biggest marijuana busts reported at the Delhi airport in recent months and reflects the growing use of international air routes by drug cartels. Multiple central agencies are now jointly probing the case, and more arrests are likely in the coming days.
The crackdown comes amid intensified nationwide operations against narcotics trafficking, with agencies warning that drug syndicates are increasingly targeting India’s metropolitan markets using sophisticated smuggling methods.
