Pune | July 4: A Pune court on Friday rejected the police request to conduct polygraph (lie detector) tests on murder accused Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary after both refused to give their consent. The court also remanded the two accused to 14 days of judicial custody.

Police had sought the lie detector tests, claiming they would help verify the accused's statements and uncover more details about the alleged murder conspiracy. However, since Indian law requires voluntary consent for such tests, the court declined the request after both accused refused to undergo the examination.

The prosecution had also sought an extension of police custody, arguing that investigators needed more time to examine digital evidence, financial records, and forensic material. The court, however, found no grounds for further police remand and ordered that the accused be sent to judicial custody.

The case involves the alleged murder of Pune-based businessman Ketan Agarwal. Investigators claim the crime was carefully planned and continue to examine electronic evidence and other forensic leads to determine whether more people were involved.

Police have indicated that the investigation is ongoing and further action will depend on the evidence collected during the next phase of the probe.
