: In a strong political statement, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has demanded that the Central government award the country’s highest civilian honour, Bharat Ratna, to Bahujan movement icon Kanshi Ram. Rahul Gandhi described Kanshi Ram as a “great warrior of social justice” and a visionary leader who awakened the political consciousness of millions of Bahujans across the country. He said honouring Kanshi Ram with the Bharat Ratna would be a historic tribute not just to the leader but to the powerful movement that gave crores of marginalized people a voice, rights, and self-respect. The Congress leader emphasized that Kanshi Ram’s struggle transformed the political landscape of India and inspired generations to fight for equality and representation. He urged the government to recognise his immense contribution to social justice and democracy. Kanshi Ram, the founder of the Bahujan Samaj Party, played a crucial role in mobilizing Dalits, backward classes, and other marginalized communities, turning the Bahujan movement into a powerful political force in India.
